What is a Cyclonic screw?
Cyclonix are an extreme weather screw assembly. A one-piece washer assembly for both Corrugated and Square rib roofing sheet profiles, specifically engineered and proven suitable to be used for Australia’s most severe cyclonic regions. The selected ICCONS screws have undergone extensive and fully independent testing by The University of Adelaide (ENGTEST) and James Cook University (ICU) meeting or exceeding all current relevant Australian Standards for both strength and serviceability.
Washer assembly comprises of 80 Shore hardness non-conductive EPDM compound in compliance with BlueScope Steel Technical Bulletin TB16 for fasteners. SDS and T17 HEX 3/8 head with top shank protection teeth.
ICCONS Cyclonix screws have a proprietary coating called Nautilus XTEND and XTEND IC5X. The coating is exceptionally hard, is thermally diffused to the screw body and is not damaged on the head or shank during installation.
XTEND is exceptionally corrosion resistant and designed and tested to perform in the real world.
Types of Cyclonic Screws:
All Cyclonix assemblies comes with a 6-star EPDM sealing washer and pressure plate design for optimum watertight security.
Available 14-10x55 & 14-10x65 Self Drilling (for Steel) 14-10x50, 14-10x65 and 14-10x75 (for Timber T17) and 14-13x57 universal point for metal (0.75-5.00) and T17 Timber.
Fasteners available in all standard Colourbond colours.
Common Applications for Cyclonic Screws:
Common applications for cyclonix screws are for fixing Corrugated and Square rib roof profiles to metal and/or timber battens in Cyclone regions of Australia.
How to Use a Cyclonic Screw:
Firstly, choose correct screw for application. Check length and type of screw, whether the application is into Timber (T17) or Steel (SDS). Screws should be installed with a screw gun using a 3/8 socket driver and driven at correct RPM depending on the type of screw being installed. Drill until washers sits neatly on the roof sheet and not overdriven, causing the roof sheet to dimple.
Suitable Materials for Cyclonic Screws:
Cyclonix screws can be used for metal roof sheeting profiles Corrugated and Square Rib Profiles in cyclone regions.
Who should Use a Cyclonic Screw?
Cyclonix can and should be used in cyclonic regions especially in areas DTE (deemed to comply)
A select range of ICCONS Cyclonix screw assemblies have also been approved and now listed in the NT Deemed to comply manual (DTCM). The DTCM is referenced in the NCC (National Construction Code) volume 2, Part 3.10.1 as an acceptable construction manual for high wind areas. The DTCM contains products and systems that have been approved by the NT Building advisory Committee (BAC) Approved Deemed to Comply sheets (drawings) can be used and/or accepted by architects, builders building certifiers and engineers for design and comply with the structural requirements of the NT Buildings act.
